Can Oppositions Unite?

In my view COOPERATION is always there, and always possible to enhance to a higher level. But that is still not at the level of UNITY.

To be in Unity, there is a requirement of common stands, which is not possible under the present scenario. Cooperations however is a lot more flexible requiring no shared stands, cooperations is Possible even with mutual conflicts in the way, the chemistry is complex, but always possible.

In my personal experience so far that had been the way things had proceeded ahead and made progress very well.

I had cooperations with many opposition fighters all without sharing same stands, and not withstanding conflicting views, which is not a unique situation. We are not all in full agreements, we may have subjects to argue among some of us, but we give faces to each other, we COOPERATE AGAINST famiLEE LEEgime. It works!

I would think the existence of several opposition parties - instead of one - has a lot more to do with the members than the leaders, ie CST, LTK, CSJ, ST or KJ. It's not the ego of CST, LTK, CSJ, ST or KJ. The fact is that they also have to be accountable to their members.

3-corner fights are not difficult to avoid when the collectively cannot field candidates in half the number of seats - in fact it only makes clear sense, not because the opposition wants to do it, but because there is so much empty space. However, by the time the opposition grows to collectively field 60 - 70 out of 84 candidates, 3-corners will start to emerge even if there are still walkovers, much fewer, say, a GRC or two.

It is also something they will have to live with if the time it comes. I mean, although they all similarly take on the PAP, there has to be some reasons why they are different parties in the first place.

i do not think so,each party and their members have different agendas and egos.
personally i think there are too many opposition parties around, when comes to election,it always split the votes.
two opposition parties is ideal.

Agendas, yes. Egos, I do not know how to really define the term. Is it ego in terms of wanting to hold a post in a party or be a candidate?

I believe I had said something on this point before and that was why I didn't comment when it came up again. Singapore currently has about 5 active parties, 6 including PAP. If you look at it as 6 active parties and not 1 PAP vs 5 opposition parties, you will realise that 6 active parties isn't really a lot. In fact this is the least in the world. Well-known countries have at least 20 to 100 parties with some semblance of life. If you look at the latter way, then of course the opposition looks "silly".

Party Aim:-

1) Socialist: SPP, PAP and WP

2) Western Human Right and Democracy: SDP and RP

3) Freedom of any political ideas: NSP

Contest Rules:-

1) All party will remain same SMC and GRC

2) Any party give up or exchange SMC and GRC will be informed

3) Prevent 3 or 4 corner fight, the heavy weight team or candidate will take over the contest. Heavy Weight mean most popular person.

4) Ignore Independent Team and candidate to contest because Independent mean either PAP or Opposition.

Singaporean Opposition parties are very professional.
