(purchased) phd = 1-time cost + public ridicule when being found out

datukship = recurring annual cost + invisible aura across the causeway (shield against most normal attacks such as traffic summons, etc, special access to business / family lobangs, etc?)

if one can really afford it, i think datukship is way better than a purchased professorship.
