Busted - Iranian drug lab away from town

KUALA LUMPUR: Instead of operating in the city, Iranian syndicates are setting up drug processing labs in rural areas as well as working with locals to avoid getting caught by the authorities.
However, their ruse was uncovered when a squad of Bukit Aman Narcotics officers raided a drug processing lab in Kampung Padang Jawa, Klang, and arrested three men, two of them Iranians, and seized about RM17.86mil worth of syabu.
Police also seized equipment, believed to have been used to manufacture syabu.
Federal Narcotics Crime Inves*tigation Department (NCID) director Comm Datuk Noor Rashid Ibrahim said initial investigations revealed that the syndicate had been supplying the drugs for the local market.
“We are not ruling out the possibility that they are also supplying the drug to other countries.” he said at Bukit Aman yesterday.

In a follow-up operation, Comm Noor Rashid said police arrested the fourth syndicate member, who is a Malaysian, following a high-speed chase from Lingkaran Syed Putra to Petaling Jaya at about 12.10am on Saturday.
“We believe they have been in operation for a few months.
“Their ruse is clever, but we were able to uncover it through cooperation from the public,” he said, adding that police would be making more arrests soon.
He said the four suspects aged between 23 and 34 have been remanded to facilitate investigations.
