IT WAS not a good start to the day for motorists travelling east along the Pan-Island Expressway (PIE) on Thursday after they got caught in a massive six-hour jam that stretched from Jurong to Toa Payoh. The congestion was due to a 45-seater private bus, which is believed to have skidded near the Stevens Road exit before hitting the central divider and landing on its side in the right most lane.
The Singapore Civil Defence Force said they received a call around 5am informing them of the incident. The driver, a man in his 50s, sustained abrasions on his back while his sole passenger, a man in his 40s, received cuts to his face. Both were taken to Tan Tock Seng Hospital. The bus was pulled upright at around 11am by two lorry cranes sent by a logistic company.
