Demolition work for Budget Terminal begins to make way for T4
Straits Times - ‎1 hour ago‎

Demolition proceedings for Budget Terminal began on Feb 1, 2013. Construction crew started with the large "Budget Terminal" masthead before tearing down the roof.

Just like spending money to rename Marina Bay as.... Marina Bay. ;)

It doesn't matter if you are loaded or not. You keep paying tax (even from indirect taxation such as the GST), they'll keep spending to 'build the nation'. :D

Pinky Loong already said he DO NOT have 20/20 foresight.
Scold him somemore,he will run to papa and cry on papa's shoulder.

That budget terminal cost less than the annual salary of four cabinet ministers to build. I say the money is well spent on the terminal as compared to the four ministers.

how many $2 companies with directors "not getting any benefit"? involved?????????

;););):D:D:D;););)

tuayapeh is also looking to increase the population down here and at the rate PAP is corrupting the people of sinkieland, tuayapeh is very happy....got more tongues to cut off, and more bodies to stir into boiling oil...

keep it up!!!

:D

It was Changi's loss in the first place to build budget terminal. Now to correct the honest mistake.

You are right. The idea of budget airlines flew in the face of PAPzi thinking, which was basically to 'upsell' everything, i.e. more luxury, greater 'comfort', at of course, higher cost.

When budget airlines came along, they must have thought it was going to be a passing fad, and for a long time, did not want to be involved. When the fad would not disappear, they grudgingly wanted to 'streamline' it so that all the budget airlines were grouped together in a 1960s style terminal, which reminded one every step of the way that one was flying budget. At this point they were probably still thinking that the fad would go away.

Well, as of Jan 2013, the 'fad' is still with us, and the terminal they built as an insult to budget travelers is in the way of real airport development. Hence, build and tear down.

Better to burn money in your face then to give you something better. Leegime style.

When Air Asia came onto the budget flight scene in 2005, the PAP govt got into a pissing match with Tony Fernandes over landing rights in Singapore. Eventually, landing rights were denied, you had to go to JB to take an AirAsia flight. Next, the Budget Terminal was built and Tiger Airways was formed. And the rest is history.

Even for a simple thing such as budget airline industry, you could see how pathetic, ungenerous and kiasu the PAP govt was. Everything is a zero sum game to them.

The guy who thought up the Budget Terminal should be fired and lose his pension. Must be another scholar who came up with the 'brilliant' idea.
