A still from a new ISIS video of a kid holding a gun towards a prisoner. (ISIS video/Screengrab)
A twisted new ISIS propaganda video shows child soldiers training in a Hunger Games-type arena.
In the Hunger Games book and movie series, the children fight to the death. In the ISIS video, the object for the six chosen junior jihadists is to find tied-up prisoners within the ruins of an ancient Syrian castle, then execute them.
The latest slickly produced clip appears to have been filmed in a remote part of Syria.
It shows six young, masked recruits -- none of them more than nine years old -- chosen from their class to run through the maze of historic al-Rahba castle with handguns.
Dramatic music and sound effects accompany the footage.
One by one, they discover prisoners hidden within the fortress, with their hands tied behind their backs. An inset appears to show the prisoner state his name, age and role in the Syrian military.
Then each "cub of the caliphate" -- as ISIS terms their child soldiers -- shoots his found prisoner in the head. The youngest boy among the chosen -- who looks no more than seven years old and whose voice squeaks as he introduces himself to the camera -- slits the throat of the final prisoner.
