Apparently almost 40% of this estate is owned by foreigners( PRs included) The estate was enblocked around polling day May the 7th.
If this freehold estate is successfully tendered for, many foreign talents will be made millionaires overnight! An expat teacher was heard remarking: "never did I expect to make this sort of profit when I bought my unit a few years ago!" Another foreign talent quipped :" Singapore is just so marvelleous!"
Now, more and more expats are getting into the property speculation foray, As one Frenchman remarked:' Got to buy properties with enblock potential - that is the way to make big bucks in Singapore!"
Apparently most of remaining 17% or more who did not support the enblock idea were Singaporeans who have lived in the estate for many years.
As one of them, a professional remarked: " It is not the money, it's our home, but we have no choice but to abide by the enblock rules. I can only hope if more property market curbs are implemented by Mr Khaw the new Minister in charge, no developer buys it!"
With the downturn seemingly on the horizon -perhaps developers would be more cautious in taking on new committments unless they can be sure of their profits!
