SINGAPORE - Jetstar Asia will cease operations from July 31 as part of its “strategic restructure”, said its parent company Qantas Group in a statement on June 11.

It said only 16 intra-Asia routes will be impacted by the closure of Jetstar Asia with no changes to Jetstar Airways and Jetstar Japan services into Asia. The statement said Jetstar Asia will continue to operate flights for the next seven weeks on a progressively reduced schedule, before its final day of operation on July 31, 2025.

Jetstar Asia, the Group’s Singapore-based low-cost subsidiary, has faced growing challenges in recent years. Despite delivering exceptional customer service and operational reliability; Jetstar Asia has been impacted by rising supplier costs, high airport fees, and intensified competition in the region.
  • The closure of intra-Asia airline, Jetstar Asia, enables the Qantas Group to recycle up to $500 million in capital, supporting its historic fleet renewal program
  • 13 Jetstar Asia Airbus A320 aircraft to be progressively redeployed to Australia and New Zealand bringing more low fares and more local jobs
  • Only 16 intra-Asia routes will be impacted by the closure of Jetstar Asia with no changes to Jetstar Airways and Jetstar Japan services into Asia. All of Jetstar Airways international services in and out of Australia remain unchanged.
Jetstar Asia customers with existing bookings on cancelled flights will be offered full refunds and the Group will look to reaccommodate customers onto other airlines where possible.

All affected Jetstar Asia employees will be provided redundancy benefits as well as employment support services.

Jetstar being a low cost airline should move it's operations to JB airport which is severely underutilized. It will serve JB primarily which Jiu hu 2 nd biggest city thanks to sinkie.
Think of JB to sinkie as new Jersey to new York.

If you're taking a budget airline flight go to JB. For some extra hassle in getting to JB, you'll save a lot of money.

Staff affected by the Jetstar Asia closure will receive four weeks' salary for every year they have worked with the company. The Singapore-based airline announced earlier on Wednesday (11 June) that they will cease operations from 31 July. The decision was made after an extensive and careful review.

Qantas Group, parent company of Jetstar Asia, clarified that only 16 intra-Asia routes will be impacted by the closure of Jetstar Asia, with no changes to Jetstar Airways (JQ) and Jetstar Japan (GK) services into Asia.

More than 500 staff will be retrenched, and they will also receive a bonus payment for the financial year of 2025, a special thank you payment and continued access to staff travel benefits for a period equivalent to their tenure.

A Jetstar Asia spokesperson said, "We are committed to supporting team members who are impacted by this announcement the best way we can."

Rising supplier costs, high airport fees, and intensified competition in the region? Those are lousy excuses. Besides most of us prefer Air Asia and Scoot anyway.
