Nearly 40 million Brazilians have benefited from the country's economic growth and social programmes in the last decade, helping them rise out of poverty and become the new middle class.

But many of them still only receive the minimum wage and say it is not enough to cover their basic needs like education and health.

It is one of the reasons Brazilians say they have taken to the streets to protest in the country's latest demonstrations.
