June 30 Shandong Broadcast Television Station
A 3-year old black bear from the Weifang Qingzhou Palace Amusement Park staged a dramatic
“escapes from prison” and went travelling around the mountainside.
Zoo official managed to track the bear to a small hill of 67 meter high behind the amusement park.
There the bear sat and watched the bemused officials and onlookers trying to coach him to come down
with threats and inducements.
Zoo official hatched "Plan A" to lasso the bear while others distracted him with inducements. However,
due to the thick undergrowth of the forested area, the official was not able to put the loop securely
around the bear's neck, resulting in the bear trembling down the slope into the valley.
Zoo official then tried "Plan B" to tranquilize the bear with anesthetic tip "Bow and Arrow". However,
due to the amateurish nature of their effort, the tranquilized bear was still able to wonder around the
mountainside for more than 8 hours before succumbing to the effect of anesthesia.
