A quake has struck the Banda Sea
The quake struck in the Banda Sea, in the Maluku Islands of Indonesia, connected to the Pacific Ocean at just before 12pm (local time).
It landed in the Ring of Fire, so-called because a huge number of earthquakes and volcanic eruptions take place there.
It is not known yet if there are any injuries and no tsunami warnings.
The latest earthquake comes after around 20 million people will have felt the magnitude 6.7 earthquake that rocked Mount Agung on Tuesday, according to Watchers.news.
Bali's highest volcano Mount Agung remains at risk of eruption despite a dramatic drop in seismic activity over the past few days.
Mount Agung has been under the maximum alert level for more than a month and an estimated 180,000 people have evacuated from the area surrounding the volcano.
Bali evacuees have been living in fear since the alert issued on September 22, but Mount Agung finally showed signs of stabilisation over the weekend.
The Banda Sea was struck by a 8.4 magnitude earthwuake in 1938, and generated a destructive tsunami of up to 1.5 metres in its wake.
