“average” can be very misleading. averages should be indicated either as “mean” or “median”. that should provide more clarity. either a small group of persons (such as 6.9% of target population) making millions in compensation per year or 6.9 billionaires making $69m per person per year can skew the average in a huge way.

Only reason why sinkie snd brunei numbers are high is due to currency appreciation or strength.
If you are from miri, sarawak, you cross the border to brunei, its more kampung, with large petrochemicals plants.
Cost of housing is low in brunei. And their cars are cheap. A mercedes C class maybe $80k? No income tax.
