Disbelieving shaking of heads in the Linz regional court on Wednesday morning: a Syrian (52) had to answer for attempted murder there. According to the indictment, last May he stabbed his wife (41) in the neck several times out of jealousy with a carpet knife. The fact that she did not die was solely due to the courageous intervention of passersby – a nurse and a pastor – the eXXpress reported.
Expert Adelheid Kastner examined the accused for his sanity. According to their report, the Syrian is not mentally abnormal. There is no higher mental-spiritual abnormality. There is no medical explanation for the memory gaps alleged by the defendant, other than that he does not want to remember. The bottom line is that Heidi Kastner declared the Syrian guilty.
What he apparently disliked and did not fit into his defense strategy. “The appraiser doesn’t know the oriental culture at all,” he said in the dock to discredit Kastner.
The verdict is expected to be handed down on Wednesday.
