Australia's take over of Christmas Islands and the Cocos and Keeling Islands cannot stand up to international law......

Cocos and Keeling Islands - Australia bullied the Clunies-Ross family until they went broke....

"In the 1970s, the Australian government's dissatisfaction with the Clunies-Ross feudal style of rule of the island increased. In 1978, Australia forced the family to sell the islands for the sum of A$6,250,000, using the threat of compulsory acquisition. By agreement, the family retained ownership of Oceania House, their home on the island. However, in 1983 the Australian government reneged on this agreement, and told John Clunies-Ross that he should leave the Cocos. The following year the High Court of Australia ruled that resumption of Oceania House was unlawful, but the Australian government ordered that no government business was to be granted to Clunies-Ross's shipping company, an action that contributed to his bankruptcy. John Clunies-Ross now lives in Perth, Western Australia......."

Christmas Island:

Singkies got no balls to contest 1957 transfer of administration from Singapore to Australia........ Mining interests were afraid the coming PAP govt would nationalise their mining concessions ans so petitioned the UK govt for the transfer.,..... The PAP accepted the coup.... kept quiet over the last 50 years...... fark you PAP, for selling out Singapore's interests......

lucky Christmas Island not under PAP rule..................otherwise more people will suffer..............

i am sure if u have a referendum, most islanders will vote to be australian than sinkies.

TS firstly Christmas Island was part of the British Empire administered by Singapore, which was also a Colony. So Singapore does not own Christmas Island.

Secondly the Chief Minister then was Lim Yew Hock of WP and not your favourite PAP.

if only S'pore was given to Australia also...............

Transfer of Christmas Island to Australia led to his downfall?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lim_Yew_Hock

The other reason for his political downfall was that Christmas Island, administered by Singapore at that time, was transferred to Australia in 1957, and that incident made Lim Yew Hock unpopular.

singapore had no way of defending Xmas island against aggressors. giving it up was the strategic thing to do back then.

Look at location of Christmas Island:

The nearest country to the place is actually Indonesia which lies between Singapore and the island. The only claim we have on the island is the British administer the island together with Singapore from Singapore. This is the same type of claim ad Diao-yu islands which was under the administration of Americans under WW2 then transferred to Japanese.

If Singapore hangs on to it, it will be a source of dispute between us and our Indonesian neighbors. The Phosphate business went bankrupt and the islanders bought it up and control it via a buyout. About 70% of the people on the island are Chinese and 10% malay. The Australians pretty much left these people alone except for an refugee center they set up on the island.

It is preserved very much as a nature reserve and unexploited.

Christmas Island is well known for its biological diversity. There are many rare species of animals and plants on the island, making nature-walking a popular activity. Along with the diversity of species, many different types of caves exist, such as plateau caves, coastal caves, raised coastal caves and alcoves, sea caves, fissure caves, collapse caves and basalt caves; most of these are located near the sea and have been formed by the action of water. Altogether, there are 42 caves on the island, with Lost Lake Cave, Daniel Roux Cave and Full Frontal Cave being the most well-known. The many freshwater springs include Hosnies Spring Ramsar, which also has a mangrove stand. The Dales is a rainforest in the western part of the island and consists of seven deep valleys, all of which were formed by spring streams. Hugh's Dale waterfall is part of this area and is a popular attraction.

I think the arrangement turned out okay for everyone....the island is best preserved rather than exploited for economic purposes and the Australians are good at that.

Only the crabs are the true residents of Christmas Island......

Today, Muslim illegal immigrants dot the landscape.....

Then after taking them in, the children of these economic migrants rape the white girls.....

See.... Auistralians are stupid..... but Singaporeans are more stupid for allowing themselves to be economically raped by foreigners abetted by our very own Pro-Alien Party.......
