An Australian woman has been arrested in the US for sending explicit photos to a teenage girl.
An Australian woman accused of sending nude photos of herself to a teenage girl in the US has been arrested during a police sting at a McDonald's restaurant in Tennessee.
Rianne Gysberts, 31, a receptionist from Frankston, Victoria, allegedly met the 17-year-old on the internet about a month ago and, while in the US on an unrelated matter, decided to travel to the girl's home town of Jackson, Tennessee.
Jackson police said the girl's mother alerted them on Friday morning that Gysberts had "inappropriate communication with her daughter online" and was in Jackson.
"Obviously, the mother had some concerns," Captain Tyreece Miller told AAP.
Police set up the sting operation at the McDonald's and when Gysberts arrived at 2pm on Friday plain-clothed officers arrested her in the parking lot.
"She was shocked and wanted to know who we were," Capt Miller said.
"She acknowledged she was there to meet who she thought was her friend.
"She was aware of the girl's age and that's what gave us the avenue to charge her."
Gysberts faces a sexual exploitation of a minor charge for allegedly sending the sexually explicit photos to the girl.
She is being held at Madison County Jail with a bail hearing set for Saturday and an arraignment on Monday.
