Australian golfer Robert Allenby has been kidnapped, beaten and robbed in Hawaii, before being dumped, unconscious, 10 kilometres from where he was taken.
The 43-year-old, ranked 271 in the world, was at the bar with his caddie and a close friend after missing the cut at the Sony Open.
Allenby suffered multiple facial injuries, and his wallet, phone, cash and credit cards were stolen before he was dumped in a park.
Friend Anthony Puntoriero, who was with Allenby earlier in the night, confirmed the golfer was kidnapped.
"He's all right now but we are still talking to detectives," Puntoriero told AAP.
Puntoriero and Allenby's caddy were not with the four-time PGA Tour winner at the moment of the abduction.
Allenby was found in the park by a retiree who assisted him back to his hotel near Waialae Country Club.
After talking with Puntoriero and the caddie the trio spent Saturday trying to help police identify possible suspects from surveillance footage.
