</TR><!-- headline one : end --><!-- show image if available --></TBODY></TABLE>
<!-- START OF : div id="storytext"--><!-- more than 4 paragraphs -->I REFER to Mr Oh Chee Siong's Online Forum comments on the frequency of trains at Pioneer MRT station ('More trains at Pioneer MRT station please', March 14).
We wish to clarify that the frequency of trains at Pioneer MRT station remains unchanged, at two to six minutes during peak hours and five to seven minutes during off-peak hours. This is the same frequency as at Boon Lay MRT station before Pioneer and Joo Koon MRT stations were opened. Our checks show that there is no overcrowding at Pioneer MRT station as train loads are usually less than 400 passengers at any time.
When Boon Lay MRT station was a terminal station, both platforms were used for east-bound train service. Trains arriving at the station could wait at both platforms for passengers to board. This could have given Mr Oh the impression that east-bound train services departed more regularly then. In fact, trains departed from Boon Lay MRT station at the same scheduled frequency of between two and six minutes during peak hours, and between five and seven minutes during off-peak hours.
We hope this clarifies the issue, and we thank Mr Oh for his feedback.
