Despite signs stating that no standing is allowed on the upper deck, people can still be found standing there, says STOMPer Benjamin.

In an email to STOMP today (May 26), the STOMPer says:

“This picture was taken on May 23 at 2.30pm at Ang Mo Kio, on a bus at a bus stop near the MRT station.

“However, this is not the first time it has happened on a Saturday.

“This happens especially during peak hours and Saturday afternoons. Passengers should not be standing on the upper deck as it isn’t safe.

“I believe SBS Transit records its CCTV coverage on the bus, so they should be able to check on this matter."

“Funny thing is there was a "No Standing on the Upper Deck" sign pasted on the upper deck. I believe the bus was packed, if not the driver would have come up and told these standing to go down to the lower deck.

“This happens on Service 147 on weekends too.”

STOMPer CHAM is frustrated by the infrequency of SBS bus service 255 during peak hours, which results in long queues that stretch past the waiting area.

This STOMPer says:

"It is with extreme displeasure that I have to waste my time to complain about the SBS bus service no. 255 .

"There have been four major service failures since 4th May 2009.

"Unbelievable but true! Bus service for route 255 was pathetic on the 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th of May 2009. All of this happens during peak hours around 7:30 to 8:00 am.

"Queue for the service has been extremely long and bus frequency is around 12 minutes, even during peak hours!

"Comparing to my bus record on 21st June 2007. I queued up at 7:30am. I managed to board a bus at 7:39am, bus number 7236S, and alighted at my destination at 8:01am. Total travel time = 31 minutes. Bus frequency = 6 minutes.

"Today (May 7), I queued up at 7:40am, managed to board at 8:00am and alighted at 8:31am. Total travel time = 51 minutes. Bus frequency = 12 minutes.

"There was no traffic jam, weather was a fine sunny day. I did not see any shortage of buses; they were seen driving into the parking area instead of picking up paying customers at berth 7.

"Why the consecutive service failure for four days straight? Shortage of drivers? Shortage of buses? Bus broke down again?

"What has the SBS management done to improve the bus frequency and long queues?

"Why the huge total travel time difference between 21st June 2007 and 7th May 2009?

"I hope that the PTC takes account of these four consecutive service failures and acts accordingly."
