A French businessman on trial for allegedly trying to smother his lover with a pillow was allowed to travel out of Singapore despite strong objections from the prosecution.
Sylvain Christian Emile Pilhion, 38, wants to visit his parents in France and two-year-old daughter in Shanghai, said his lawyer P.E. Ashokan on Friday.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Lee Zu Zhang asked the court not to grant permission as Pilhion had no roots here and was a flight risk.
He is also accused of using criminal force on Ms Jocelyn Quynh-Anh Pohl, 38, an American citizen, by grabbing and tossing her on a bed and biting her hand.
