This New Year's Eve, a 1.2km stretch of pristine beach will be transformed into a sandy dance floor for party-goers to usher in the Year 2011.
Toss any hedonistic-paradox-to-blame misgivings out the window and head over to Singapore’s answer to Ibiza, Café Del Mar. Seasoned spin doctors Desmond You, Abery Lee, Tony Tay and Joel Yeo will be pounding out everything from commercial house to synth tech electro to heavy trance; true dance music pleasure I think we all know is worth seeking.
If you’re more chilled-out easy listener than hard-core raver, Coastes will be bringing some amazing live music to the fray, with the buzz-worthy Changing Hues playing their renditions of all our pop, rock and jazz favourites. Local retro house phenom, DJ Sixx Fingaz, will also be making an appearance, demonstrating his unrivaled 60’s and club anthem mash-up stylings. A little shoulder-rolling, finger-snapping, neck- grooving action never hurt anybody. Plus there’s all kinds of snacky goodness on offer for you to feast on while you do.
Asia’s first surfing, restaurant and lifestyle venue, Wave House Sentosa, features Singapore’s only 3m high barreling wave. Show off those smooth flowboarding moves to the sounds of DJs Ramesh, Kenneth Francis, Joshua P and Zushan, and then tuck into some gorgeous fusion cuisine guilt-free.
If you’re looking for a bit more of a swanky party vibe, we’ve just the ticket; Azzura. With local and international DJs Paul Sound, Rough, Small and Effen offering purist progressive house with refined dashes of electro and trance, you know you can count on a lusher, plusher party experience.
Nine-piece band Sixx, playing their unique mix of hip hop, funky soul and rock, will be opening for a whole host of first-rate DJs at the Main Arena. With the likes of DJ Shy, DJ LTN and DJ Jensen spinning only the best hip-hoppy-electro-trance, a huge array of fringe performances to check out and the ever-popular 98.7 Radio DJs counting down to midnight with you, this beach zone promises to be entertainment central.
Just add a reverse bungee, the MegaZip and everybody’s favourite countdown staple, the legendary foam pool, to the mix and you can really say there’s something for everyone. Already got plans?
