Armed robber nabbed

POLICE have arrested a 23-year-old man believed to be responsible for a case of armed robbery which occurred at Block 660, Hougang Avenue 8 last Thursday. A 34-year-old woman had been robbed of her mobile phone, cash and other valuables valued at about $400 at the lift lobby.
The victim remained calm and composed during the incident and gave a detailed description of the suspect. Based on the description provided, officers managed to establish the suspect's identity from CCTV footage.
The suspect was caught on Thursday in Jurong West with the victim's mobile phone in his possession. The suspect will be charged in court on Saturday, and if convicted, he faces a jail term of up to 14 years and shall be liable for caning of not less than 12 strokes of the cane.
