When paine and his peers quickly made way for the next generation of players. I think hardly any of them represented Singapore National team for more than 10 years.
Thereafter, David Lee helmed the goalkeeper's position for 12 years, along with many first-team players like Malek Awab, Sundramoorthy, Fandi, which was too long in my opinion. Back then, our youth team in the 80s and 90s was doing very well but overshadowed and hardly not groomed.
When these legacy players retired, suddenly Singapore kept losing in almost all international matches in the next 2 decades.
