#ICYMI: The Vulnerable Adults Bill was passed in Parliament. It will allow the family, community, and State to better protect vulnerable adults, 18 years and older, who face abuse, neglect and self-neglect.
Minister Desmond Lee shared: "Many of us would have heard of cases where elderly persons or persons with disability or special needs are abused, neglected, or self-neglected.
The community plays an important role in protecting vulnerable members who live among us...MSF aims to ensure timely action is taken to prevent harm, as well as repair relationships so that families can continue to care for their vulnerable members. MSF’s powers in the new Act will be exercised judiciously and will complement the existing care networks that support the vulnerable adults and their families.
MSF will continue to work with stakeholders and partners to strengthen the way our community supports families in caring for its members who are vulnerable adults.
