At least Apple made marginal improvements. Apple was also the pioneer of adopting new standards e.g. USB Type C.

Apple invests heavily in R&D. Because it makes its own chips in-house, it can optimize performance and control the quality.

For Android phones they have to depend on Qualcomm and Mediatek. Qualcomm screwed up on the Snapdragon 810 with overheating issues, and the Android phone makers are not happy about it.

If you own Apple share you get a regular dividend & Tim Cook tells their investors to expect the dividend rate to increase i.e. expect to receive more $
Don't forget that Apple also actively buys back shares to increase the value of the share that are already out there.
Compared to what is happening in Spore where the PAP is giving out easy scholarships & citizenships to foreigners. They are in essence devaluing the worth of the Spore citizenship.
