What good is Singapore Pools but to lure people into gambling with its so many outlets? If PAP Government cannot close down Singapore Pools, at least make it reduce the number of outlets drastically, both to curb rampant gambling and the spread of the virus among the seniors and elderly who engage in eager gambling of 4D and TOTO.

For a start, close down those outlets at NTUC Fairprice, Prime Supermarket, etc. Why do these supermarkets also dabble into the gambling business? How does this protect the integrity of our society?

Another suggestion would be for the PAP Government to require Singapores Pools to maintain just a few premium outlets, preferably under 10, and charge Entry Levy to enter these outlets. Why should Singapore Pools be given preferential treatment from the Casinos when the nature of their business is GAMBLING?!!

Bookie heads will be most happy.

It is the job of the Singapore Police Force to actively monitor Singapore's telecom network for signs of suspicious bookie activities and nab the culprits. Whatever it takes!

If PAP closes down casinos and singapore pools, i will vote for PAP.

Are you taleban?

Where there is a demand, there will be a supply.
Where there are buyers, there will be sellers.
Where there are chances, there will be hopes.

Gamble & Brothel is something you can't kill off and therefore the MIW made it official so that they can take-in tax as revenue and pay MPs world highest salary.
it is also a hypocritical acts to say that they will spend xxx amount on the tax-income from two-Casino to set up National Council for Problem Gambling.
before the two Casino, we already have Singapore pool and geylang for years....is there any NCPG or sex-problem council ?
to able to reach what the MIW wish to have, they will come out with all kind of excuses and hypocritical acts but short of saying it blunt - MIW want money so that they can pay all MPs high salary regardless of the benefits of Singaporean.

If PAP closes down Singapore Pools and sinkie uncles and aunties do not get to buy their 4D, PAP will lose the GE.:biggrin:

I hope Singapore Pools will resume business again soon. I need to strike Toto, and get out of poverty.

Arguing about the morality of gambling has become irrelevant after opening not one, but two casinos. At least back in the day, one could posture with the moral high ground.

SG Pools makes the peasants with shitty lives feel better about themselves, it makes them dream about hitting the big 'huat' overnight... that lingering mathematical chance, a promise of potential prosperity. It's something they look forward to every week.

If the morality of gambling has become irrelevant, then why implement the Entry Levy for casinos but not Singapore Pools? Your argument is fallacious.

It's not my argument; it's their thinking and official policy.

My opinion is that the casino entry levy is just another quick and convenient cash grab disguised as moral posturing by the govt. It keeps those dimwits at the CRA and other related govt workers employed when they make ads like this:
