Possible reactions :

Chua Moi Hoong : “I applaud the PM for bravely tackling the problems facing Singapore. Indeed he has striked the right balance between not “raiding our reserves” and looking out for Singaporeans. Only the PAP knows how to strike such a balance. If the Opposition were to propose anything that uses the reserves, then its raiding the reserves. If the PAP proposes it, then its “striking a balance”. Indeed, the PAP is capable of change”.

Heng Swee Kiat : “I’m glad that the PM has responded to the views of nearly 50,000 Singaporeans in the Con-versation. We have scoured far and wide to ensure that as broad a spectrum of people are heard (Read: as opposed to the “vocal online minority”). This is a major historic change on the part of the PAP and shows decisiveness in solving the country’s problems.”

Han Fook Kwong on Sunday Times column : “The PM has certainly gone much further than anyone anticipated in being willing to address Singaporeans’ concerns. No, its not trying to be populist or trying to swing to the left. In fact, its a very calibrated approach. I applaud the PM for taking this approach”.

MP interviewed by ST : “I’m glad that the PM is taking care of the health cost concerns of Singaporeans. I’m glad that the proposals given by the PAP GPC have all been comprehended in his plans. This shows that the PM is really listening”.

Citizen interviewed by ST – a graph shows how much he will now save as a result of PM’s new measures : “I’m glad that the PM is looking after people like me. A hundred dollars here and there is still money that I can now spend on something else” (Hint : prices will continue to go up so that the “savings” become offseted after a while. The PAP will give with the left hand, take away with the right hand)
