SINGAPORE : Unionists and their families celebrated May Day with a slew of attractive offers and deals.

The labour movement launched its month-long "Power of U" campaign at the Ang Mo Kio Hub on Sunday.

The aim is to reach out and connect with its 541,000 members of all collars and ages.

They can enjoy savings on retail offers, professional development courses and recreational deals throughout the month of May.

Some of these deals include savings of up to 67 per cent on selected courses offered by NTUC LearningHub, 50 per cent off admission ticket to the Singapore Night Safari, 15 per cent off petrol at Caltex, S$4.90 Cathay Cineplex movie tickets and S$4.90 Wild Wild Wet admission tickets.

A Grand Lucky Draw will be conducted on May 30 to round up the campaign. Members can look forward to a chance to win an NTUC Income GrowthLink Policy worth S$25,000.

And for the first time, NTUC will issue instant membership cards to those who sign-up at road shows - thereby allowing them to enjoy the offers immediately.
One group the labour movement is targeting is the professionals, managers, executives and technicians (PMETs), whose numbers have grown.

Heng Chee How, deputy secretary-general, NTUC, said: "It is very clear that for our type of economy, the part that is considered PMET is growing. So for the union movement, we are targeting the parts that are growing as well, both in terms of the level and the types of industries, so we are also going for new industries.

"If you look at union membership worldwide, the general trend has been one of decline. But our trend has been one of increase. And even though last year we have had a very difficult year with retrenchment, we still see a growth in our membership and that puts us on a steady track of our one million membership goal in 2015."

So U = Useless

If so as defined by you, then that's most apt. Too bad they appeared to have wasted their time and resources on you trash then.
