Too bright to handle: Newly-installed lights in MRT train tunnel are blinding
STOMPer blindinglights hopes that the newly-installed lights in the MRT train tunnels can be repositioned such that they still do the job of illuminating the tunnels but do not blind commuters in the passing trains.
Said the STOMPer:
"The large white fluorescent lamps were installed at eye level in the MRT tunnel.
"They are installed about 1m apart and there are more than 10 installed on the tunnel wall.
"When the train is moving, the lights turn into a bright blinding flashlight. It can be very uncomfortable when one is standing and looking straight.
"The blinding lights can cause people with vertigo to faint or blackout, even a normal person looking at the lights can feel giddy.
"The lights were installed after the major train breakdown.
"SMRT should consider positioning the lights above the train or lower where it can't be seen.
"After all, the lights are only for illuminating the tunnel and are bright enough even when installed lower."
