'Daddy' rapist gets jail, caning
Man raped girlfriend's 12-year-old daughter over two-year period

SHE trusted him completely, with the guilelessness of a 12-year-old. But the man she called 'Daddy', the boyfriend of her mother, raped her 11 times over the next two years.
Only when the victim attended sexuality education classes last year did she realise what he did to her was wrong.
Yesterday, the 43-year-old man was sentenced to 26 years' jail and 24 strokes of the cane by the High Court. He pleaded guilty to raping her on four occasions. Seven other similar offences were taken into consideration by Justice Steven Chong.
The man cannot be named because this could lead to the identity of the victim being revealed.
The court heard that the bachelor was in a relationship with the girl's mother. The 37-year-old divorcee then moved into his flat in the eastern part of Singapore with her daughter and son in 2005.
The son, the elder child, moved out after he quarrelled with his mother and went to stay with his grandparents. The daughter, however, was soon calling the man 'Daddy'.
