Poor Homeless Singaporean lives at void deck of HDB block sleeping with 2 bags, one as pillow another below his legs to prevent it from being stolen while he sleeps. This happens while a funeral wake is in the same void deck, right next to Lee Kuan Yew's PAP Headquarter which is recently renovated nicely and timely for General Elections, spending millions of Town Council Dollars. To have this nice assumption is naive and you won't do that if you had observed enough number of these homeless people. This guy carried 2 black bags containing ALL he got. Blanket isn't what you would bring to nap around on daily basis. He is obviously a seasoned homeless, because he is well prepared, one bag under legs and the way he sleeps never let legs off above it, that prevent it from being stolen. Sadly homeless people steals from each other. The other bag under his head is more valuable. So he needs to hear even sound of any one unzipping it. The one bag at leg contains clothes and the like - bigger items can not be stolen by unzipping. The cash NRIC etc can be easily stolen by unzipping bag. So he put it nearest to his ears.



Street-smart due to learning curve seasoned homelessness shown. :(

Old people are that type which you said, casually resting or nap as and when feeling sleepy or taken medicine causing drowsiness, or simply unhealthy. They are not so street smart type. They lost their money & handphones etc sleeping casually and enjoying themselves around - all the time. They are relax and not tactically alert like streetwise and seasoned homeless. Old people resting around will obviously place their things in temporary manners. They expected no thief and even expect public to safe guard their properties.

Ah Peh will leave his umbrella on void deck bench and even his medicines on table in front of himself and just nap in slanted seating position. All indicating a temporary and unprepared situation.

Yes I see what you mean, thanks for the good explanation. Just wanted to be sure in case any viewers have a doubt. I come across them too, some use a bicycle to transport everything they own. And they move around to different benches in the vacinity each night. If its raining or wet, they'll be under shelter (void decks, gazebos, etc), or else they will be in the open.
