An Indonesian Super League football match ended in chaos after a football player hit the referee for awarding a penalty to the rival team.
According to Indo Boom, the trouble started when the match between Pelita Bandung Raya and Persiwa Wamena reached the 80-minute mark.
The referee awarded a penalty to Pelita Bandung after Persiwa’s captain tackled a Pelita Bandung defender at the goal area.
This triggered protests from the Persiwa players.
While the players were bickering, one of Persiwa’s players wearing the number 10 jersey approached and threw a punch at the referee's face, drawing blood.
The match had to be temporarily stopped as the referee had to be rushed to a hospital.
Pelita won the match 2-1 over Persiwa.
