Another ex-teacher accused of having sex with pupil

SINGAPORE - On Wednesday, a former primary school teacher faced five charges of having sex with a pupil and one of committing an obscene act.

The 32-year-old woman, who is now unemployed, is said to have had sex with the 13-year-old pupil four times. She was also charged with one count each of performing oral sex on him and committing an obscene act with a child.

Neither the accused nor the boy can be named because there is a gag order.

The woman is alleged to have had sex with the boy at Sembawang Park some time in May last year.

Later that month, she allegedly had sex with him and committed an obscene act on a staircase at a block of flats in Choa Chu Kang Loop.

She is alleged to have had sex with him at a staircase at a block in the same area the following month.
Then on July 7, she allegedly performed oral sex on the boy at the staircase landing of an HDB block in Yishun Ring Road.

The last offence of sex allegedly occurred at her home on July18. The accused, who is married with children, is represented by Mr Ravinderpal Singh.

She was released on $10,000 bail and was told by the court not to approach the victim.

The case is fixed for a pre-trial conference on Jan 2.

If convicted, she could face a jail term of up to 10 years and a fine on each charge of having sex.

For committing an obscene act with a child, the maximum penalty is a $10,000 fine and five years in jail.

In October, a 32-year-old former teacher, who is also married, was jailed for one year for having sex with her 15-year-old student.
