Local council worker killed after China woman rams his motorcycle
GEORGE TOWN: A 58-year-old local council staff member died after his motorcycle was rammed by a car driven by a China national.
The victim, Mohaidin Gani Mohamad, who was a Penang Island City Council (MBPP) public health assistant, was behind a car at a traffic light junction at Jalan Datuk Keramat when the accident occurred on Friday (Oct 25) morning.
George Town OCPD Asst Comm Che Zaimani Che Awang said two motorcycles and a car were at the traffic light junction when a car driven by the woman rammed into them.
“One motorcyclist managed to escape but the victim died at the scene."
The case is classified under Section 44(1)(b) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
“A post-mortem is being carried out," he said in a statement on Friday.
ACP Che Zaimani said the blood sample of the driver was taken for alcohol and drug tests.
The China national will be remanded on Saturday (Oct 26) for further investigation
