A Singaporean man who pimped out more than 10 women for sex has been charged in court with living off their earnings.
Four of the women were below the age of 18 at the time of the alleged offences. Having commercial sex with a woman below the age of 18 is illegal and anyone found guilty can be jailed up to 10 years and fined.
Chew Tiong Wei, 37, initially faced one charge on Dec 4 but the prosecution added 13 more charges this morning, four of them involving underaged women.
The charges are for living off the earnings of a prostitute, an offence under the Women's Charter which carries a maximum penalty of five years' jail and a fine of up to $10,000.
Chew was remanded for further investigations and will be back in court next Friday.
