None of the governments in involved have any real interest in finding the plane. The search is just for show because it is the politically correct thing to do.

You also need to realise that the plane has still not been found. The piece of debris could be 1000km from the main body of the plane. The debris simply confirms that the plane indeed crashed rather than being abducted by Aliens.

Boeing definitely has no interest in finding the lost plane in case they find fault with the design. But inmarsat, the satellite company that came up with the location calculation, also uses Boeing made satellite.so maybe they purposely made the wrong location to get discounts on new satellites.
