Hawkers cook at the Istana
HAWKERS who were given the National Environment Agency Singapore's OK nod, were invited to serve the President and his guests at the President's Award for the Environment Award Ceremony.
Serving up heartland favourites ranging from thosei to teh tarik, dim sum to soya bean milk, kambing soup and satay, the 12 hawkers definitely had a tough crowd to please, with dignitaries, and even the President in their midst.
Please them they did, with even the President & CEO of Senoko Power raving, 'These hawkers are the pride of Singapore,' citing the chicken rice from Maxwell Food Centre's Stall No. 17, as his favourite.
