An airport security officer was jailed for two months on Wednesday for pocketing a passenger's silver wedding ring.

Mohammed Arshad Alamgir, 39, who is employed by security services provider Certis Cisco and attached to Changi Airport, admitted to misappropriating British businessman Lam Yu Ching's Cartier ring worth HK$7,000 (S$1,115) at the departure transit gatehold room at Terminal 2 on Feb 17 last year.

A district court heard Mr Lum and his wife were scheduled to board a Singapore Airlines (SIA) flight for the Maldives that day.

During the pre-boarding screening, Mr Lam removed his ring as required and realised he did not have it when he was on board. CCTV recordings showed that after the couple had collected their belongings in the gatehold room, the victim's wife had forgotten to collect his ring from the tray.
