Air New Zealand named airline of the year
January 10, 2012

Air New Zealand has been named airline of the year for a second time by global aviation industry magazine Air Transport World.

A panel of the magazine's editors said the award recognised Air New Zealand for its industry-leading innovation and motivation of its staff which resulted in exceptional performance across market position, customer service, financial performance, fiscal management and operational safety.

The magazine's chief editor Geoffrey Thomas said: "Air New Zealand is at the cutting edge of the industry and competitors now look to the South Pacific to see what revolutionary idea the airline will come up with next."

"The secret to its success is its constant reinvention, refinement of its product and a dedication to its staff. After developing Skycouch and the Spaceseat, many airlines would have taken time out. Not Air New Zealand, it's on to the next project," Thomas said.
New Zealand's national carrier also took out the top award in 2010.

The award will be presented on February 13 on the eve of the Singapore Air Show.
Qantas's carrier for regional Australia, QantasLink, was named the regional airline of the year.

"QantasLink is more than a regional airline," Thomas said. "It's a lifeline to millions of Australians who live sometimes thousands of kilometres from a capital city and hundreds of kilometres from the nearest town."

If NZ let in more FTs, they'd be able to win more awards.

How did this happen? They don't even have enough aircraft to fly to most international routes and depends a lot of coach sharing with other airlines.

Congratulations to ANZ..NZ has done many things right and is a country to be truly admired.

Anyway I cannot blame them, I do this myself too. I travel a lot just to source and outsource products. Why produce and screw around with workers and technology when someone can do it for you, cheaper and better. :p

It is time the SG govt faces the truth and consequences of its bad governance.

SIA is an expensive airline to fly...try Emirates!!!

As in many areas of our lives, size has often been over-rated and overemphasised.

You should encourage more SBF members to join you there.

the NZ is unlike the pap..the nz govt will not take in cheap foreign labour just to make more money but, in the long term, destroy the country.

You are very right TracyTan866. So what if we have the biggest and busiest port, so what if our students are the smartest, so what if we are the cleanest and safest city in the world, we have been brought up this way and we ended up having the highest paid government and widest income gap where our old folks pay through their nose for medical and old age, where our savings had been forcefully withheld, where we pay the highest price in the world for subsidized housing. The government had lost its bearings so have we the paupers when we keep on bringing them back to screw us.
