Wong Meng Meng to take over as Law Society president from Aug 1

SINGAPORE : Singapore's Law Society will have a new president from August 1._
He is senior counsel Wong Meng Meng, who is currently the society's vice president._
Mr Wong takes over from current president, Michael Hwang, who is stepping down owing to the demands of his new appointment as Chief Justice of the Dubai International Financial Centre Courts._
Mr Hwang, a senior counsel, has been the president of the Law Society since January 2008. His last day of office is on July 31._
Mr Hwang will, however, remain as a member of the Law Society Council._
Mr Wong will serve as president for the remainder of the term from August 1 to December 31 this year._CNA
