Her ex-boyfriend, Ivan Cezar Ronquillo, 24, also a content creator on social media, died just three days later.

Lima was pronounced dead after being rushed to a Manila hospital by Ronquillo on November 16, according to local media outlet The Philippine Daily Inquirer.

The outlet said a medico-legal report from the Quezon City Police District’s (QCPD) forensic unit found she had sustained non-fatal external injuries, as well as fluid in her lungs and a congested heart.

However, her cause of death remains a mystery as investigators await the results of toxicology and histopathology testing.

QCPD spokesperson Police Major Jennifer Gannaban told local press that officers had found marijuana and other medications in the Manila hotel room where Lima reportedly became unresponsive.
The puzzle deepened when Ronquillo was also found dead on Wednesday morning, discovered in the stairwell of his Quezon City home.

Chief of the QCPD Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit Police Lieutenant Colonel Edison Ouano said Ronquillo’s death was being investigated as an alleged suicide by hanging, according to the Inquirer.

Before his death, the social media creator shared three Facebook posts in a tribute to Lima.

The posts included photos and videos of the pair together.
“I love you so much Gina, I can never do it without you by my side,” he wrote in Filipino.

Lieutenant Colonel Ouano told the media that police had launched an investigation into online harassment levelled at Ronquillo following Lima’s death.

He confirmed Ronquillo had never been a person of interest in the ongoing investigation into Lima’s death.

Ronquillo’s family have spoken out in the hours after his death, sharing a tribute for the fitness influencer.

In a heartbreaking confession, his father told GMA network he wished to hug his son.

“I really love you,” he wrote.
“I wasn’t able to hug you.
“It’s too late that I only hugged you when you were already dead. I feel bad for not letting you experience that embrace,” he continued.

Another relative also spoke to the network, saying he hoped Ronquillo’s death served as a lesson to online bullies.

“We are looking at the possibility that one of the causes of my nephew’s death … was due to the overwhelming number of people who judged him on social media,” they said.

“I hope this serves as a lesson to everyone that you shouldn’t be judging right away, you should first find out the whole story.”

Lima maintained a following of over 423,000 on Facebook and 182,000 on Instagram.

Ronquillo had also shared fitness photos and video content to his more than 34,000 followers on Instagram.
