Accountant charged for tax evasion

AN ACCOUNTANT was charged on Friday with undereporting his income by $2.4 million over the course of a decade in an effort to avoid paying taxes.
Chng Chor Tong, 50, is facing 11 counts of making false entries in his tax returns from 1995 to 2005.
It marks the first time a local certified public accountant has been accused of tax evasion, according to the Inland Revenue Authority of Singapore.
Chng allegedly under-reported the income from his accounting firm, CT Chng & Company.
The firm, located in Neil Road, provides auditing, accounting, tax and business consultancy services.
In a separate case on Friday, Poh Chai Ha, the 41-year-old sole proprietor of O.T. Corporate Services & Consultancy, was also charged with tax-related offences.
She faces 11 counts of making false entries from 1995 to 2005 to escape paying tax on $2.4 million she earned from her firm.
