A simple question on the Marina Barrage
I know this is hindsight but my question is were there ever any studies done to analyse the effect of the Marina Barrage during heavy rain?
Of course, there are always 1001 things that can go wrong and nobody has thought of them. But knowing Singapore, it is very likely that no one will ever even think of raising questions like this once the top dog has given the approval for the project to go ahead.
My experience in the Singapore system is that when evaluating a project, the focus is always on the costs/benefits analysis. No one ever bothers with the side effects or potential implications as long as the $$$ benefits outweighs the $$$ costs. Ditto for issues like casinos.
