Shops and commercial establishments remain shut and traffic is off the road, bringing life in Kashmir to a standstill. This have made life difficult for a lot of people in the valley, especially for those who couldn't stock essentials including food.
Diwanchand Pandit and his family are was in a similar spot, having no access to food in the previous couple of days because of the lock-down. That is when they decided to seek the help of Zubeda Begum, and her family.

After being told about their plight Zubeda Begum and her husband decided to defy the clampdown and help their family friend.
According to a report in India Today, the couple walked miles on a deserted road in Srinagar on Monday, carrying bags of food for the Kashmiri Pundit family who lived across the river Jhelum.

"She called me in the morning, saying her family needed food supplies," Begum.
"They have an ailing grandmother staying with them. I am taking the food to them. It is difficult but we are trying to reach them," she added.
