A lifeguard has performed a daring rescue of a young surfer caught in a rip-tide
off the Devon coast.
The unnamed youngster was dragged into the dangerous current while learning to surf
at Croyde beach in Devon on Wednesday.
The short video shows how James Vallance waded out on his lifeboard to save the
stricken youth, who was also being battered by strong waves.
After first being knocked off, the young boy eventually managed to hold on to the
yellow float before being steered to shore by his rescuer.
