I have stayed in Duangtawan, Imperial Mae Ping, Maninakorn. There is another one where a tourist was killed by the insecticide sprayed on the mattress.

Duangtawan is too popular with Sinkies. Another thing I don't like about Duangtawan is the reception lobby, which is not located on the ground floor.

Imperial Mae Ping is where Teresa Teng ascended to heaven. A very nice hotel, but a bit away from the night bazaar crowd.

Maninakorn is even further away, but cheap and big.

What is your experience with hotels in Chiang Mai ?

If you going to Chiangmai don't miss out pai , about 3 hours from Chiangmai .

cheap.......... boh ?

One night about $700 depends on high or low season but it's worth it .

You can find some reasonably priced and good hotel inside the old city but it's much more further away from night bazaar and shopping center.

Duangtawan's location is the draw, next to night bazaar. Big hotel, with rooms bit dated. Lifts are slooooow, unless you go to side lifts. Brekkie maciam hospital, sucks

If you prefer Niman area (near Chiangmai U, popular area for cafes, pubs area), try checking out this small boutique hotel. Mini terrace, with views to Doi Suthep. Just 5 minutes from soi to Niman

Apartment style The Empire, just at junction of Niman, and soi. Big rooms, with living area. Short walk along soi to entertainment spots like Infinity, Tawandeng etc. Going from thb1360

Or if you like Tapae Gate (old city), Amora. Comfortable, not expensive and 2 mins easy walking distance to old city

For slightly more (but not that expensive), bit more comfort -Furama. But 200-300m deep from main road. Wheels like motor bike rental or car helpful to commute

Any cheaper, you gotta try guest houses league.

This is a unique and charming one, pay more but with my good experience, personalised service by female boss owner who resides there. Seven Senses -each room with LOS province theme. Great small cafe

Enjoy northern Lanna culture and food.

(Seems you are travelling man here)

Where to find cheap and good ?? ;)

PAP minister cheap and good la, yes we paid them millions but compare to if they corrupt it would have been more expensive and maybe not so good too :p:D

To whom are you directing this question ?

You, since you went to ChiangMai.

Quite many Ang Mohs continue their travel from ChiangMai -> ChiangRai -> Huay Xai and take F1-style speedboat to LuangPrabang. :D
