SINGAPORE: Singapore reported 94 new COVID-19 infections as of noon on Friday (Aug 28), including four in the community and 10 imported cases.
This brings the total number of cases in the country to 56,666.
The four community cases are all Singaporeans or permanent residents, the Ministry of Health (MOH) said in its daily preliminary update.
All 10 imported cases were placed on stay-home notice or isolated upon their arrival in Singapore, it added.
The 80 remaining cases are workers residing in dormitories, with 58 of them from Sungei Tengah Lodge.
All 58 workers were among 4,500 workers placed on quarantine following the discovery of cases at Sungei Tengah Lodge, which was reported as a new COVID-19 cluster on Aug 22. About 3,000 workers at the dormitory have been tested so far.
Most of the 58 cases were found to be infected with the coronavirus after taking swab tests during quarantine to determine their status, or during rostered routine testing.
"We expect the number of cases from the dormitory to continue to be high in the coming days as we complete testing of the remaining quarantined workers," said the health ministry.
