9 arrested for suspected illegal gambling

SINGAPORE: Police arrested nine men, aged between 43 and 59 years, for suspected illegal gambling at a hawker centre at Ang Mo Kio Avenue 1 on Sunday night.
Police said they found the nine men gambling at a table.
Gambling kits and cash amounting to S$1,323 were seized as case exhibits.
Police said seven of the suspects will be charged in court with illegal gambling.
If found guilty, they could face a jail term of up to six months, or a fine of up to S$5,000, or both.
The two other men will be charged with promoting illegal gambling.
If found guilty, they could face a jail term of up to five years and be ordered to pay a fine of between S$20,000 and S$200,000. - CNA/gn
