STOMPer MoneyNoEnuff, an operationally ready NSman or more commonly known as a reservist, is disappointed when he realised he will not be getting the full amount of the new monetary award given to NSmen, after reading an article about it in the papers.
According to The Straits Times, the National Service Recognition Award (NSRA), which took effect last Sunday (Aug 29), will range between $9,000 and $10,500, depending on the rank of a serviceman.
The money will be split into three equal instalments of $3,000 across three milestones in his national service cycle -- the completion of full-time national service, the middle of his In-Camp Training cycle and at the end of his total of 10 cycles.
However, if an NSman missed any of the three milestones before Aug 29 2010, he will not be eligible for the payout for that phase of his national service.

"I hold the rank of a Sergeant in the Home Team, so I was excited when I thought I would be getting $10,500.
"But my excitement was shortlived when I read further and realised that I just missed the 2nd milestone by a few days, because I just completed the 5th cycle of my ICT last week, before Aug 29!
"I think at least for those who are still serving their reservist, they should be given the full amount of the payout, whether it's $9,000 or $10,500, because we have worked hard to protect the country, just like the newer NSmen.
"I think we have sacrificed so much -- entering working life late, having to postpone our studies and even breaking up with our girlfriends during Basic Military Training! I'm sure that happened to many of us guys.
"For those old timers who have already completed their reservist a long time ago, well too bad lah.
"But for those of us who are still serving, we should get the full amount. Don't you guys think so?"
