SINGAPORE: Seven men were charged in court on Friday (Aug 1) with loanshark harassment.
The men, aged between 17 and 25, were allegedly involved in incidents at automated teller machines (ATMs) located at Hougang, Serangoon and Marsiling, as well as at homes in Pasir Ris.
Between July 26 and 30 this year, police received four reports of ATMs being splashed with substances and paint. Debtors' notes were also discovered at the machines.
If found guilty, the accused could each be jailed five years, fined $50,000 and caned six strokes. - CNA/by
