51-year-old man arrested for molesting a woman on MRT

SINGAPORE - Police have arrested a 51-year-old man for a case of outrage of modesty on board a MRT train.
On Apr 17, 2014 at about 8:35am, a woman was on board the MRT train heading towards City Hall when she believed to have been molested by the man.
She confronted the man and brought him to the control station when the train stopped at Bugis MRT Station.
Police were subsequently alerted of the matter and he was placed under arrest for Outrage of Modesty upon Police's arrival.
Investigation into the case is still ongoing.
For the offence of Outrage of Modesty, the suspect may be jailed up to two years, or fined and also be liable to caning, upon conviction.
Commander of Central Police Division, Deputy Assistant Commissioner of Police (DAC) Daniel Tan, advised members of public to be cautious when they are in a crowded areas such as on board a crowded train.
DAC Tan also advised the public to stay calm when they encounter such crimes and to seek help immediately and call '999' as soon as it is safe to do so.
